Filiberto Rios, Sr.
Our History
Tailoring by Rios was founded in 1980 in Fort Worth, TX, but our origins lie in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila in the early 1960’s in a shop known as Sastreria Rios, where Filiberto Rios got his start.
The Rios family moved to Texas in 1965. Filiberto originally worked for Jack Caudell’s Menswear, an exclusive, high end clothier, on Camp Bowie where he was the head tailor. Upon Mr. Caudell’s death, Filiberto was a tailor at several other shops as he worked his way up to running the alterations department at Cox’s department store on Berry.
He founded Tailoring by Rios in 1980 on Camp Bowie Blvd. accompanied by his wife, Obdulia, his sons Eduardo and Filiberto, Jr. and daughter Edith. With hard work and dedication to quality, the business was able to grow and expand to larger spaces throughout the years, with 2 previous locations on Lackland and ending up in our current location on Calmont Ave.
